Collections
The Museum of North Craven Life holds approximately 16,000 items which have been collected since 1976. We hold an unusually wide range of materials from objects to artwork, photographs to maps, archives, films, sound recordings and printed materials. The Museum is Accredited by Arts Council England.
The Catalogue
Take a look at our online catalogue, which currently features photographs from the Horner Collection. Further records are being added – find out more about our plans to make the rest of our collections available.
Collection Development
The primary aim of the Museum’s acquisition strategy is to collect a range of materials that promote a clear understanding of North Craven and its heritage by local people and visitors alike. Our collecting is thematic and our focus is on local history and all aspects of the life of the North Craven community, rather than being a collection of ‘bygones’ or a folk museum.
If you would like to discuss donating an object or collection to the museum, please contact our Honorary Curator for an appointment. Please note that we cannot accept donations without the Curator’s agreement and prior approval by the Museum’s governing body.
Research
Our collections are available for study and research by appointment. Please contact us if you have a research enquiry or would like to arrange a visit. For further details of the services we offer, please see our Research enquiries page.
