Run The Dales

When

Tue, 25 May 2021 - Fri, 25 June 2021.

Description

Fell running is the original sport of the Yorkshire Dales. Showcasing the breath-taking and creative imagery of Stephen Garnett, this exhibition brings to life the sport and the Yorkshire Dales like never before.

Sponsored by the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Great Place: Lakes and Dales, this brand new exhibition aims to promote one of oldest and most archetypal sports of the Yorkshire Dales, along with the rural economies, country fairs, sports and shows that play host to the 50 plus events held across the region throughout the year.

The exhibition incorporates a retrospective of fell running shoes through the ages, donated by the legendary fell runner Tommy Sedgewick and well known athlete, coach and commentator, Roger Ingham along with other historic artefacts from the sport.

The Run the Dales exhibition and website has been created and curated by the writer Victoria Benn, author of new book Peak Performance which chronicles the great sporting legacy of Ingleborough and the Yorkshire Dales’ Three Peaks. Peak Performance is for sale in the Museum shop.
