Walter Morrison Festival
Fri, 8 October 2021 - Thu, 23 December 2021.
The Walter Morrison Festival concludes with an exhibition celebrating his life and works at The Folly.
Walter Morrison of Malham Tarn House helped shape the western Dales. He built or restored schools, places of worship, barns, inns and housing for estate and factory workers. He campaigned for education and universal voting rights, and paid for Giggleswick School Chapel to be constructed. But today, his name is almost forgotten.
This exhibition brings together stories about Morrison from across the Craven District and beyond. We look at his political views, his philanthropy and his deep, abiding love for the landscape of the Yorkshire Dales.
