Horner Studio Photographs

Description

The Horner family ran Settle’s photographic studio from 1864 until 1960. They produced a remarkable record of local people, buildings and landmarks, as well as important pictures of early cave exploration.

In 2021, the Museum of North Craven Life acquired the contents of the studio, including stereoscope slides, glass plate and film negatives, prints and camera equipment, which show the growth of photographic technology from its earliest days.

Through a selection of evocative large format prints, this gallery illustrates aspects of life in North Craven, its people, places and events, from the late Victorian era to the 1950s.
