The Walter Morrison Way

The Walter Morrison Way is a 17-mile route from Coniston Cold to Malham, Settle and Giggleswick, retracing some of Walter Morrison’s favourite paths and connecting some of the landmarks in Malhamdale and Craven.

Shorter loops explore Kirkby Malham and Malham, the Malham Tarn Estate, Settle, and Giggleswick.

Malham Circular (approx. 3 miles with options to extend)

This walk starts and finishes in Kirkby Malham and explores the picturesque villages of Malham, Hanlith and Kirkby Malham, with options to extend to Malham Cove, Janet’s Foss and Gordale Scar.

Malham Tarn Estate (approx. 5.5 miles)

Explore Walter Morrison’s own estate in this quiet loop at Malham Tarn.

Settle Circular (approx. 4.5 miles)

This packed walk takes in The Folly, the now defunct Attermire rifle range, and Victoria Cave before curving back down to Settle. It is possible to combine this walk with the Giggleswick circular.

Giggleswick Linear (approx. 2.5 miles)

This easy route winds through historic Settle into Giggleswick, climbing up to Giggleswick School Chapel and back.
