Description
The Museum is coming to Ingleton!
While the Museum of North Craven Life is closed for restoration, we’re taking a little bit of the museum out on the road – and on Sunday 20 September we’ll be at Ingleton Community Centre.
Join The Folly team for a free, drop-in day of real objects, local history, discoveries and activities for all ages. Come for five minutes, stay for an hour or spend the day exploring – everyone is welcome.

Get hands-on with the collection
We’ll be bringing a small selection of museum objects for you to handle and explore. Look out for items with connections to Ingleton, Bentham and Burton in Lonsdale, including historic Ingleton guidebooks and ceramics from Burton in Lonsdale pottery. Our team will be on hand to share what we know and answer your questions.
Bring your own treasure
Our collection has been built through almost 50 years of donations and stories from local people. What would you add to the story of North Craven?
Bring along an object, photograph or personal treasure that means something to you. We can photograph it and record its story for our online People’s Collection – and, of course, your treasure goes home with you.
Have your say
It’s your museum too. Spin the wheel, cast your votes and tell us what you’d like to see, explore and discover at the Museum of North Craven Life in the future.
There’s plenty to make and do too
Create your own badge using old maps, marbled papers and vintage magazines, decorate a fabric square for next year’s community playroom exhibition, or step inside our giant cardboard Folly and help fill its walls with pictures.
Children can also pick up an activity sheet and explore the different stations around the hall, solving questions and puzzles as they go.
And if you simply fancy a chat, come and meet the museum team, ask us questions and discover more about the people, places and stories of North Craven.
FREE – DROP IN – ALL WELCOME
I think “The Museum is coming to Ingleton!” is stronger on the web than simply “The Museum is coming to you!” because the page itself is specifically about this date and venue. It still doesn’t imply the event is only for Ingleton residents – especially because the very next copy talks about North Craven and objects from Bentham and Burton in Lonsdale too.
