From the Ribble to the Sea: Celia King Art Exhibition

When

Sat, 5 March 2022 - Sat, 18 June 2022.

Description

Settle-based artist Celia King trained as a painter and etcher in Gloucestershire and Birmingham University.

Celia is Cornish in upbringing and the sea is a permanent stimulus. She uses collage and multimedia to express the boldness or intimacy of the sea coast, from the power of water to the treasures of the tidelines.

Recently, she has been inspired by Anglesey’s ever-changing seascapes and beaches, showing a wide variety of bold and intimate imagery. She has used a range of materials and methods to express the energy of the sea and the intimacy of its associated flora and fauna.

During lockdown, she has been fascinated by the changing seasons in the Dales and around the River Ribble. It’s ponds, waterfalls, flora and fauna inspire her.

Her silk-work is an extension of her love of design in nature and beyond.

Celia’s paintings are in many private collections in Britain and abroad. A number of her etchings are in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford.

Artworks from this exhibition will be available for purchase.
