Ground Nest Fest 2025

Family friendly
When
Fri, 2 May 2025 - Sat, 10 May 2025.
Description
Can you recognise the call of a curlew or the dance of a lapwing? Do you know a plover from a snipe, a lark from a pipit? Discover Yorkshire’s special ground-nesting birds, and the upland habitats that support them, in a week-long celebration across our landscape.
Everyone can play a part, whether you volunteer to monitor the health of peat bogs, or simply keep your dog on a lead and encourage others to do the same.
Wild Ingleborough and Yorkshire Peat Partnership are once again coming together to host events in various locations around Ilkley (Wharfedale) and Settle (Upper Ribblesdale), finishing up with a day of family fun here at The Folly.
The events include a peatland botany session, dawn chorus birdsong walk, lowland raised bog walk, weave a willow curlew, evening farm walk and meet upland dairy farmers.
Ground Nest Fest is held in partnership with Wild Ingleborough and Yorkshire Peat Partnership.
