Ground Nest Fest: Earth Day Celebration

Family friendly

When

Sat, 20 April 2024. Drop in between 11:00am-4:00pm

Description

Join us at St John’s Methodist Church to get inspired and take action for Ground Nesting Birds.

Get Inspired – with drop in activities for all ages, from 9 months to 99 years!

Take Action – meet local people making a difference to Ground Nesting Birds and find out what you can do to get involved.

Join Naseem Derby, a sculptor and illustrator, to create a three dimensional drawn nest for one of our iconic ground nesting birds for you to take home. Make a contribution to our blanket bog blanket, or weave a mini meadow using sustainably sourced materials.

More interested in screens than drawings? Explore Ingleborough and our peat uplands in Minecraft or try a new video game all about Curlews by Natural England.

Meet volunteers from the Clapham Curlew Cluster, Eco Explorers and Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and hear all about the work they have been doing in our local area. Why not sign up to get involved yourself in future?

There are also three different bookable workshop sessions running on the day at St John’s: Animation, Singing (up to age 5), and Poetry. You can find out about each of those on the Eventbrite booking pages.

This event is part of Ground Nest Fest, a week-long festival celebrating ground-nesting birds and their habitats, held in partnership between The Folly, Wild Ingleborough and Yorkshire Peat Partnership.  It is generously funded by The Royal Society.
