Description
Explore Dr Buck’s House – a derelict Georgian Townhouse being restored to community use in Settle.
Book in for a short tour of Dr Buck’s House, the North Craven Building Preservation Trust’s newest property, and find out how we plan to restore the building to community use through provision of housing and a new museum all about Edward Elgar’s connection to Craven. Elgar spent many happy summers a guest of his friend Dr Buck, and regularly visited the house which bears his name.
Due to the building’s state of repair, access beyond the front room is by booked tour only.
Access to the front room, featuring a display about our plans for the building, is possible at any time between 10:00-16:00.
Estimated tour duration: 20 minutes.
Accessibility details
The front room of Dr Buck’s House is accessible by wheelchair from the street. However, the remainder of the building is accessible only by a staircase. We have no toilets or running water on site. The nearest toilets are public toilets in Whitefriars Car Park. Visitors are also welcome to use the toilets at The Folly, Victoria Street.
