The Boar’s Head and beyond – Long Preston Sunday 4th September, 2.30pm

The Boar’s Head Inn has been at the heart of Long Preston for centuries.  We find out about the incredible lives of several families who were all linked to the Boar’s Head in some way, for better or worse.

The 19th century rollercoaster –  Long Preston Sunday 11th September, 2.30pm

You think everything is going ok and then something unexpected happens to change your life forever, for better or for worse.  It doesn’t matter how much money you had — it was a bit of a lottery in 19th century Long Preston!

Baptist Chapel burial ground – Long Preston Baptist Burial Ground  Sunday 18th September, 2.30pm

This tiny little graveyard showcases some of our most extraordinary families, with outstanding successes, some incredibly strong women, and a dose of unbelievingly bad fortune.

Long Preston Parish Church, Church Street BD23 4NJ.  Long Preston Baptist chapel burial ground,  Main Street, just beyond the Maypole Inn towards Settle, BD23 4PH

If arriving by car, be aware there is no parking at the church or burial ground. Please park at the railway station or in the car park of the Boar’s Head Inn or considerately in the village, off the busy main road.  There are no refreshments after this trail so please bring your own or buy from the village shop or pub.   Due to plumbing difficulties there may not be toilet facilities at the church.

Access

Chairs will be available if needed and refreshments will be provided afterwards by church volunteers, donations are much appreciated.

The graveyard trails are run outside in the graveyards so you should wear shoes with closed toes and wear clothes appropriate to the weather, hot or cold.  Don’t forget drinks and sunscreen in hot weather.  The trails will involve walking on gravel paths and grass.  (There is usually an indoor alternative in the case of bad weather).

Places are free but limited to 30 for each trail so register early by phoning 015242 51002 or emailing info@ydmt.org with contact details and preferred dates, or leaving your details at The Folly.  Your place will be confirmed soon afterwards. Donations will be appreciated and will go to local charities
