Walter Morrison at Kirkby Malham Church

When

Tue, 1 June 2021 - Thu, 30 September 2021.

Description

Explore this exquisite Anglican church, often nicknamed the Cathedral of the Dales, which Walter Morrison saved from possible ruin. This was his local church and he generously paid for over half of the desperately needed repairs in 1879.

The church hosts a small exhibition about Morrison’s involvement with the church and visitors can borrow a church guide to explore the building in more detail.

Morrison is buried in the graveyard under a simple headstone.

Kirkby Malham Church is fully wheelchair accessible. The nearest toilets are at Kirkby Malham Parish Hall, and the nearest wheelchair accessible toilets are at the Yorkshire Dales National Park Centre in Malham.

Kirkby Malham Church is open to the public during daylight hours.
