Unlocking Collections
Finding the key to North Craven’s culture and heritage
What makes the area of North Craven so distinctive? Supported by funding from Arts Council England’s Unlocking Collections scheme, our Finding the Key project is the next step towards achieving our ambition to fully understand our collections and engage with our community to unlock the stories they want to tell about North Craven’s past, present and future.
Workshops, oral history projects and volunteering opportunities will enable the next generation to access the collections, understand what has been collected in the past and why, and have a voice in shaping the future of their local museum, contributing their creative ideas about contemporary collecting and the ways in which their lives are represented for the benefit of local and visiting audiences.
We have appointed a Community Curator to support local people to increase their participation and
engagement with the museum through greater access to the collections, both in person and via a new online catalogue, to which anyone may contribute to help us discover unexpected connections between objects, places and people.
We invite anyone who would like to get involved to get in touch to find out more about this exciting new project to develop the museum as an asset for future generations.
